Panera’s Pastries to open in Paris by the end of March 2018

Paris (Reuters) – Panera Bread and Co Inc is opening a new bakery in Paris in early March, a move that will help the chain expand into the European Union, a company spokesman said on Thursday.

Panera said it plans to open a bakery in the French capital in the third quarter, followed by a new location in London by the start of the fourth quarter.

The firm said the new bakery will open in a space that it is building in downtown Paris.

Panera said the opening is expected to take place over the next year.

It is one of the first companies in Europe to enter the European market after the introduction of a single euro currency in September 2016.

The company said last year that it expected to open 100 stores in the EU by 2020.
